About Abe
Abe Puerto is an Executive Director and the Head of D.C. Consulting at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Abe is a dedicated and accomplished leader in the institutional and retirement plan industry. He offers strategic direction and guidance to his specialized team, which guides clients in establishing and managing a wide array of defined contribution and other retirement planning products. He taps the breadth of J.P. Morgan offerings, including 401(k), 403(b), 457, SEP IRA and both traditional and cash balance defined benefit plans.
Abe brings over two decades of industry experience in a variety of leadership roles. He joined J.P. Morgan in 2023 after more than a decade at UBS, where, as Head of the Retirement Plan Relationship Management team, he launched a strategic initiative to drive new plan sales with top retirement plan providers. In his role as Head of Institutional Consulting there, he strategically grew the firm's $50B Endowment, Foundation and Pension consulting business by refining the program to enhance service delivery to the firm's institutional clients.
In his previous role as Head of Consulting Program Management, Abe led a team that generated substantial asset and revenue growth through a traditional FA- centric distribution model. His tenure as Executive Director and Head of D.C. Program Management saw him oversee the firm's $100B held-away retirement businesses, resulting in 20% year-over-year growth in AUM and contracts.
Abe's professional journey includes a role as Vice President at Morgan Stanley, where he managed the Alliance Partner Platform and led due diligence for new retirement plan providers. He launched his career at Diversified Investment Advisors, where he facilitated the onboarding of large market retirement plan clients. He holds a B.A. from SUNY Geneseo.
In his free time, Abe enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, two daughters, Allie and Anna, and their dog, Bear.
