About Mark

Mark Buchanan is a Vice President and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

As a Certified Private Wealth Advisor®, Mark works with high-net-worth clients to provide wealth management services that include tax and estate planning, asset preservation, charitable giving strategies, retirement income approaches and generational wealth transitions. He also partners with executives on strategies for stock option plans and concentrated stock positions, and works with business owners on succession and exit planning. Mark collaborates with J.P. Morgan specialists as well as clients' tax and legal advisors to develop individualized plans aligned with clients' goals.

Mark joined J.P. Morgan in 2025, bringing deep experience from his role as a Financial Advisor at UBS beginning in 2018. He was previously Director of Retirement Services at Principal Financial Group, where he focused on corporate retirement plans. Mark began his career in 2012 at Capital Group, raising capital and serving as a consultant to financial advisors.

Mark earned the CPWA® designation through the Yale School of Management. He holds a B.A. in Corporate Communications from the University of Texas and earned the Texas Business Foundations Certificate through the McCombs School of Business. He also holds the FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses. During college, Mark was an offensive lineman for the Texas Longhorns, where he contributed to a Fiesta Bowl win, a Big XII Championship and an appearance in the National Championship game. He was also a member of the Texas Cowboys and served as a Longhorn Leaders tutor for local middle school students.

A fifth-generation Austinite, Mark can often be found serving in the community alongside his wife, Anne, and their three children—Rachel, Ryan and Reagan.
