About Joe

Joe Lally is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

As a co-founder of The Barnes Chung Lally Group, Joe oversees the team's investment initiatives, a responsibility that he shares with his son, Joseph P. Lally. Joe serves as a portfolio manager for the team's core equity growth portfolio—a proprietary investment program with a long-term track record. With more than 60 years in investment management, Joe offers a perspective that has been honed over multiple market cycles, economic environments and geopolitical incidents. That continuity and depth have sharpened his judgment and insight, adding to his poise as a long-term investor.

Joe is highly selective in his criteria for inclusion in the team's core equity portfolio. He focuses on individual stocks, with a 3-to-5-year time horizon, seeking to uncover businesses that offer predictable, rapid growth. Joe notes that his evaluation process is time intensive. He consults "stacks and stacks" of material to inform his vantage point, conducting extensive research and analysis. Joe points to his perseverance and good memory for numbers as two factors that have contributed to his success. He relates that he is "proud to have helped people understand the markets," imparting confidence in their ability to weather varied environments.

Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2023, Joe spent four years with First Republic Private Wealth Management, where he was a Managing Director and Wealth Manager. Earlier, he was a Senior Managing Director at UBS Financial Services, where he worked for thirty years. He began his investment career in 1961, after earning his B.S. in Finance and Economics from Boston College.

Joe and his wife, Sharon, are active with St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westwood. They are very proud of their daughter, Colleen, and her husband, Tom; their son, Joe, and his wife, Amy; and their four wonderful grandchildren. Joe stays fit by working out regularly and walking 3 to 5 miles a day.
