About Eric
Eric Gray is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As the founder of The Gray-Polverini Group, Eric imparts wealth planning guidance and strategic leadership advice to ultra-high-net-worth clients and their families. He draws from more than three decades of experience to address the complexities of their financial affairs so they can pursue the lives and legacies they envision. Clients regard him as a 'thinking partner'—someone whose integrity of character and depth of experience can help them advance their ambitions.
By intentionally focusing on a select number of sophisticated clients, Eric delivers the careful analysis and high-touch service required to help meet the intersecting needs of successful families. In addition to tax-sensitive investment management, wealth transfer and long-term planning that considers family dynamics, he is a conduit to the array of enterprise-wide services that J.P. Morgan offers. These include investment banking, commercial and personal banking, philanthropic guidance and family office services.
Recognizing that the tax situations and time horizons of ultra-high-net-worth clients demand superior care and attention, Eric incorporates a disciplined process designed to address the differentiated challenges of institutional-scaled assets. He forges long-term relationships, which have earned his clients' appreciation for 'looking out for them and after them.' He is dedicated to preserving their privacy and discretion, which are vital components of the team's mandate.
Eric entered the world of financial services at Goldman Sachs, where he was a Vice President serving high-net-worth clients. In 2000, he moved to Merrill Private Wealth Management, where he built The Gray-Polverini Group into the substantial practice it is today. Eric and the team transitioned to J.P. Morgan in 2024. Earlier, he was part of New England Digital, a technology start-up that developed music and digital audio hardware and software.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Eric obtained an M.B.A. from UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He also attended the New England Conservatory of Music and studied percussion with Arthur Press of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Eric's passion for music continues, and he is a Trustee of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and Head of its Advancement Committee. He also serves on the board of the Transpacific Yacht Club, where he is Chair of the Finance Committee. Deeply committed to giving back to his community, Eric founded the Los Angeles Sailing Foundation, an organization devoted to serving underprivileged youth by offering sailing scholarships and participation in collegiate regattas.
Eric and his wife live in Manhattan Beach and have two daughters. An active sailor, Eric won his class in both the 2011 and the 2015 Transpacific races from Los Angeles to Hawaii.
