About Mary
Mary Barnes is a Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Mary is dedicated to serving affluent individuals and families, high-achieving professionals and successful business owners. Her focus is on creating holistic wealth plans that align with their private financial needs and the aspirations they have for their families, future generations and the communities around them. She has a deep background in delivering tailored investment and administration services to pension plans, 401(k) services and other retirement vehicles.
Building on her multi-decade career of institutional experience as a respected and trusted member of the asset management community, Mary joined J.P. Morgan in 2023 to leverage her first-hand perspective of best practices in investing and wealth management to address the personal wealth needs of individuals. She brings a collaborative style coupled with meticulous attention to detail to help them navigate the complexities of financial decision-making while remaining committed to pursuing their long-term investment goals.
Mary has a particular interest in helping to empower women as they establish their financial independence, coupling her technical knowledge with a warm, empathetic and engaging approach. She taps her extensive network to foster enduring relationships that encourage an exchange of innovative ideas. She educates her clients on all aspects of wealth planning, explaining the value of thinking critically about investment and retirement strategies and guiding clients through its implementation.
Mary began her career with DWS Investments, where she rose to Senior National Account Manager, followed by similar roles at Vanguard, State Street and Overlay Shares.
After graduating with honors from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, Mary earned an M.B.A. from DePaul Kellstadt School of Business. She holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation and the FINRA Series 63, 65 and 7 securities licenses.
Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, Mary is proud of rising from her humble roots to a successful career on Wall Street, which informs the careful approach she takes with her clients. She now lives in the western suburbs with her teenage daughter. In her free time, Mary is passionate about coaching high-achieving, professional women on ways to live a fulfilling, meaningful personal life without having to limit or abandon their professional success.
