About Jacob
Jacob Pottschmidt is an Executive Director and Wealth Advisor with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Jacob provides comprehensive wealth management services to highly affluent individuals and families, corporate executives, and successful business owners.
As a multigenerational member of The Miller Group, Jacob has built a reputation for his authentic nature and insight into the family dynamics that accompany substantial wealth. He begins by listening to clients' aspirations and understanding their unique stories so he may bring the relevant parts of the firm directly to them. He builds strong relationships, connecting with all family members to educate them about the responsibilities to come.
Like the other members of the team, Jacob provides goals-based planning that guides individuals toward their important ambitions. Drawing on his quantitative background, he determines each individual's profile and builds portfolios that are individualized and factor in their tolerance for risk.
Jacob joined J.P. Morgan in 2016 from the J.P. Morgan Private Bank. There he also provided wealth management solutions for the firm's wealthiest clients, with a focus on the hedge fund and trading industry. Previously, Jacob was an audit analyst with the firm, charged with testing critical business controls to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining business efficiencies. He began his career at The Ford Motor Company, where he helped create financial models for manufacturing investments.
Continuing a family legacy, Jacob graduated from The Ohio State University, earning a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He holds an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. An avid reader, he is a devoted student of economics and the markets.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Jacob developed his leadership skills early as the eldest of three siblings. He is an ardent fan of Ohio State sports teams, and in his free time, he enjoys working out at East Bank Club and running.
