About Elizabeth
Lisa Nam is a Managing Director and Head of Family Dynamics at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
In her nationwide role, Lisa leads the Wealth Partners Family Dynamics Offering and helps the firm's most affluent families more effectively engage with their financial capital across generations. Her calling is to encourage clients to catalyze their wealth for human flourishing. She seeks to equip family members to assume future roles and responsibilities as beneficiaries, trustees, philanthropists and stewards with more intention so that they are resilient through major transitions.
Drawing on her legal and financial services background, Lisa serves as her clients' ally, facilitating discussion so that multigenerational collaboration and transparency become a family norm. For those whose multiple branches and generations share wealth, a commitment to transparency and collaboration can lead to defined governance practices and structures, which the Family Dynamics practice can advise. She augments these services with education and thought leadership.
Throughout Lisa's career, her natural curiosity, empathy and responsibility have driven her to diversify her professional toolkit. She is a former trusts and estates attorney who pivoted to fiduciary trust administration. Most recently, Lisa was an Executive Director on the Family Office Resources team at Morgan Stanley. However, it was her experience as a corporate trust officer at Merrill Lynch Trust Company (now Bank of America Trust) that was a "wake-up call." Today, she encourages parents to have honest conversations with their children about values, responsibility and accountability, and facilitates family meetings that seek to inform, educate and prepare the rising generation for what's to come.
A native of Rochester, New York, Lisa earned a B.A. in Political Science from Wellesley College and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. She is a member of the New York State Bar and holds a certificate in Family Wealth Advising from The Family Firm Institute. She is also a member of the Purposeful Planning Institute. Lisa is active in her church community and volunteers to help children develop reading, math and financial literacy skills. She also supports the performing arts.
Lisa lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in her spare time, studies hula and Native Hawaiian arts, music and practices. She is also a classically-trained pianist and enjoys playing golf..
