About Elizabeth
Lisa Nam is a Managing Director of Family Engagement and Governance at J.P. Morgan Advisors.
Lisa is based in San Francisco and guides some of the firm's wealthiest families as they navigate specific complexities that accompany financial success. She is passionate about equipping families to build capacity, individual by individual, and generation by generation, so that financial capital can be a catalyst for sustained growth and well-being.
Much of Lisa's work occurs at the intersection of wealth and the families who create it. Drawing on her background as a trusts and estates attorney and trust officer, Lisa serves as an ally for her clients, facilitating conversations and experiences that prepare families for generational transitions. Whether working with a business-owning family, beneficiaries of wealth created generations before, or a tech founder whose wealth is multiplying as the result of a major liquidity event, Lisa is fascinated by the question that these clients confront at critical pivot points: "We seem to have outgrown our story. What's next?"
Working with families to build capacity for continued evolution and growth means understanding where they have come from, where they find themselves today, and where they want to go in the future. With strategies and tools developed by the Family Engagement and Governance team, Lisa guides clients through a discovery process to identify the impact they wish to make on the people and communities they care about, and then works with them to create actionable steps, from facilitated family meetings, to tailored wealth education that empowers members of the rising generation to more confidently step into roles as thoughtful stewards, philanthropists or entrepreneurs in their own right.
Lisa is a native of Rochester, New York, and earned her B.A. in Political Science from Wellesley College. She earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in the State of New York, and holds a certificate in Family Wealth Advising from the Family Firm Institute. Lisa is an active member of the Purposeful Planning Institute, where she is a respected contributor and thought leader. She is also a member of the Asian American Bar Association of San Francisco.
Lisa is active in her church community and enjoys volunteering as a reading, math and financial literacy tutor for young people. She is an avid supporter of the performing arts. In her spare time, she studies hula and Native Hawaiian arts, paints, and plays the piano. She also enjoys exploring new places and playing golf
