About Mark
Mark McConnell is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Mark is a Portfolio Manager in the J.P. Morgan Wealth Management Portfolio Manager Program, a select group of advisors who undergo a screening process to manage discretionary client portfolios and are subject to ongoing quantitative and qualitative reviews to assess their investment strategies. He leads all critical functions of the MTN investments team, including strategy development, portfolio construction, implementation, risk management, trading, and portfolio manager training. As the functional chief investment officer of the Group, Mark chairs the MTN Investment Committee and sets the strategic direction for the team's firm approved strategies and brokerage activities.
He began his investment career in 1992 with Bear Stearns, developing investment strategies for institutions. In 1995, Mark joined Merrill Lynch where he served institutions and professional investors for more than a decade. During his time at Merrill, Mark created the earliest versions of the Team's strategies and co founded The MTN Group. He has been with J.P. Morgan since 2009. The Group has been named a Top DC Advisor team in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025 by the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA).1
Mark holds a B.B.A. from The School of Management and Business at St. Edwards University and is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). Mark exemplifies unwavering dedication as loving father and husband to his daughter and wife, while providing incredible efforts for the benefit of clients and teammates.
