About Scott
T. Scott Holstead is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of The SGH Group, Scott works closely with multi-generational Texas families, C-suite executives and Texas-based private equity firms to help them address the complexities of significant wealth. He offers steady guidance and thoughtful leadership, providing clients with the comfort and confidence they need to grow, preserve and transfer their wealth.
Drawing on more than 25 years in wealth management, Scott offers a perspective shaped by multiple market cycles. He is skilled in explaining investment concepts clearly so that clients understand the nature and nuances of their asset allocations. Scott is adept at monetizing large single-stock positions, working directly with corporate executives and private equity firms to provide strategic and needed liquidity. Clients look to Scott for his investment knowledge, access to J.P. Morgan's private equity offerings, and his acumen in transferring wealth across generations. Scott, in turn, is proud to serve an exceptional clientele, helping them pursue meaningful goals for their lives and legacies—educating their children, preparing the rising generation as responsible stewards and cementing a family's long-term financial security.
Scott has worked in wealth management since 1999. He honed his investment-management capabilities at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2018. As a founding member of J.P. Morgan Securities' Houston office in 2018, Scott offers the tenure and continuity to advance client goals effectively within the broader J.P. Morgan organization. He began his career in 1989 at the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy and also worked in the White House's Office of National Service during George H.W. Bush's presidency.
A graduate of Washington & Lee University, Scott earned his B.A. in Political Science. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.
Eager to contribute to the greater Houston area, Scott is a board member of the Memorial Hermann Foundation and a founding board member of the Texas Alternatives Foundation. He has served on The Kinkaid School Development Board and the Texas Children's Cancer Center Advisory Board. Scott resides in Houston with his wife, Jill, and their two children.
