About James
James Barr is an Executive Director and Client Specialist at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Working in partnership with J.P. Morgan's Wealth Advisors, Jim delivers innovative, sophisticated financial strategies to founders, partners, executives and their families. He engages with clients to be their single source for managing their wealth picture, leaving them free to pursue what is most important to them. His focus is on introducing clients to the range of the firm's services so they may optimize the outcomes they are seeking.
Jim approaches each relationship in a consultative capacity, listening to what clients are trying to achieve and then aligning J.P. Morgan's comprehensive suite of services to address these goals. He selects the advisors and specialists best suited for their scenario and can guide individuals in investment management, wealth planning, risk management, insurance, trust and estates and other sophisticated services. He is proud that clients describe him as accountable, highly responsive, a person of integrity and an advocate for all of their needs.
In a career that spans three decades, Jim most recently spent eight years as a Wealth Advisor at First Republic Investment Management, working with corporate and individual clients to develop and implement comprehensive wealth management strategies. Previously, he served as Vice President with Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, advising clients and financial professionals on asset protection, income planning, retirement planning and wealth transfer.
Jim graduated from Fitchburg State College, earning a B.S. in Economics. He also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM and the Chartered Retirement Plan SpecialistSM designations through the College for Financial Planning. In addition, he was a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves.
Jim's community service includes past membership on the advisory board of a local Massachusetts hospital and coaching youth football. He and his wife are active in philanthropy for New York City's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In his free time, Jim is a pilot and enjoys the outdoors, especially fly fishing.
