Jay DeRusso is a Managing Director and Client Specialist at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

Jay works in partnership with J.P. Morgan's advisors and specialists to deliver comprehensive wealth management for high-net-worth individuals and families across Southern California. He seeks to understand each client's wealth picture and then forges a team of resources aligned with these needs to help facilitate the outcomes they seek.

Jay employs a consultative, empathetic approach that is grounded in behavioral finance. He probes for critical insights and identifies opportunities for optimizing a client's financial picture. To do so properly, he marshals the firm's fortress balance sheet and extensive capabilities to help them pursue their important goals.

A former practicing attorney, Jay's thirty years of experience spans a range of wealth planning, financial strategy and trust & estate planning. He is nimble and responsive, acting as a sounding board to encourage a robust exchange of ideas. Jay often pinpoints gaps in clients' long-term planning, a process he believes elevates the decision-making process. His focus is on presenting innovative approaches that are groundbreaking and help move the needle forward.

Before joining J.P. Morgan, Jay was a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at First Republic Investment Management and held leadership positions at Union Bank and Goldman Sachs Ayco.

Jay has served as a commissioned Officer with the United States Army Reserves. He earned a B.A. from University at Albany, SUNY, and a J.D. from Albany Law School.
