About Daniel
Daniel Bessey is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Dan works closely with business owners, entrepreneurs, and other wealth creators, providing them with the insight and advice to grow, preserve, and transfer their wealth more effectively. He draws on significant experience supporting high-net-worth individuals and families in delineating their priorities and following through on those objectives through thoughtful strategy, intensive service and robust communication.
With more than 30 years of investment experience, Dan applies the knowledge he has gained in the capital markets, adept in guiding an accomplished clientele. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, he served as a Managing Director and Wealth Manager with First Republic Private Wealth Management, where he worked for eleven years. During this tenure, Dan helped to create the firm's Allocation Strategies platform to implement tactical and strategic allocations across its investment portfolios. He also served on First Republic's Alternatives Due Diligence Committee.
Earlier in his career, Dan advised affluent families at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. He also served as the Head Trader and a Partner for Cliffwood Partners, a $750 million hedge fund and long-only manager. His experience also includes advising and marketing to institutional clients for Goldman Sachs (SLK division) and proprietary trading on the floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange.
Dan earned his M.B.A. in Finance and Investments from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
A resident of Westlake Village, California, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, Tammy, their son, Kyle, and their daughters, Lauren and Taylor. In his free time, he also likes to golf, travel and spend time outdoors.
