About James
James Dempsey is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
James has been engaged in investment-related activities since 1987.
Before rejoining J.P. Morgan in 2023, James was a Senior Managing Director and Wealth Manager at First Republic from 2012 to 2023. Previously, he was a Managing Director at US Trust, responsible for $1.2 billion in private client assets. While there, he was a member of the Custom Equity Solutions Group, the team responsible for research and development of equity ideas used in portfolios throughout the firm.
Earlier in his career, James was a Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan, managing $2 billion in client assets and serving on the Value Equity and Asset Allocation Committees. He began his professional journey as an Institutional Equity Portfolio Manager for the Large Cap Growth team at Alliance Capital.
James earned his B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.B.A. from the New York Institute of Technology. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
