About Margaret
Margaret Flynn is an Executive Director and Wealth Advisor with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. Margaret works closely with individuals, as well as their families and foundations, to deliver financial strategies that address all aspects of their balance sheets, including cash and investment management, lending, trust and estate planning and philanthropy. Drawing upon the resources and strategies of J.P. Morgan, Margaret takes a comprehensive approach to help clients secure their financial futures through informed decision making at every life cycle stage and through changing market conditions.
Having first-hand experience navigating liquidity events, Margaret finds it personally gratifying to guide entrepreneurs, concentrated stockholders and executives to consider the opportunities and complexities that surround sudden wealth. She brings a consultative approach and partners with her clients' attorneys and accountants as they manage the tax implications and legal aspects that can impact such events. Her focus is to deliver investment management strategies that target individualized goals and help provide for overall financial well-being.
Margaret's vast prior experience is deeply rooted in technology and technology investing. She is the former Head of Technology Strategy and Innovation for J.P. Morgan's Asset Management business, where she identified potential new opportunities, and found ways to facilitate and accelerate their adoption. From 2002 to 2004, she led Advisory Services at J.P. Morgan's LabMorgan, an incubator arm focused on early investing, intellectual property and external ventures.
Earlier in her career, Margaret was a founding member of the principal investing group at a public consultancy, where she executed private equity investments in financial services and media companies. For seven years, she owned an advisory services consultancy, where she focused on providing investment advisory and merger integration services. She has also held senior-level management roles at several startups at which she went through both acquisition and IPO transactions. Most recently, Margaret was a Senior Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. She joined J.P. Morgan in 2017, and uses the totality of her experiences leading new markets, identifying emerging opportunities and managing business expectations to work with individual investors and help provide strategic wealth management guidance.
Margaret earned her B.A. in Cognitive Psychology from Columbia College and her M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She holds the Series 7 General Securities license as well as the Series 63 license. She is involved with the entrepreneurship programs at both NYU and Columbia, and fundraises for Columbia, as well as volunteers for Columbia College Women and her son's elementary school. Margaret and her family reside in New York City, and in her free time, she enjoys running, playing tennis and competitive sailboat racing.
