About Jay

Jay Canell is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

Jay's career in financial services spans more than 30 years, and during that time, he has gained a reputation for always placing the client first when making investment decisions. He is experienced across the range of equity and fixed income products, with areas of focus that include portfolio diversification, mutual fund analysis, wealth planning and insurance strategies. Recognizing that many clients seek valuable access to credit and lending, he facilitates mortgages, debt refinancing, HELOCs and other forms of liquidity.

Jay was selected as one of the 2022 J.P. Morgan Chairman's Award honorees. It's incredibly meaningful to be recognized by the firm's leaders for demonstrating exemplary leadership, collaboration, client engagement and community partnership. Jay joined J.P. Morgan in 2017 to offer clients the boutique advisory environment and distinctive services available at the firm. He leverages the wide breadth of J.P. Morgan's industry-leading resources to help clients pursue their individualized financial goals. In 1989, Jay received his B.A. in International Relations from Lehigh University. He is FINRA Series 7, 31 and 63 securities registered.

Jay resides in Scarsdale, NY and Manhattan with his wife, Sari, and their two children, Hayley and Dylan. Philanthropy has always been an important part of his life, and he is a founding board member of SCOPE, a nonprofit organization that sends less fortunate children to summer camp. He recently received the 2023 Ben Appelbaum Advocates for Youth Award in recognition of his work with SCOPE.

Jay serves as a board member of The David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University. Additional board memberships include The Pediatric Cancer Foundation, where he was honored in 2017 as Co-Person of The Year, My Money Workshop and The Athletes vs. Crohn's & Colitis Organization. Jay is a member of the Foundation Board of White Plains Hospital in Westchester County, New York. Additionally, in April of 2024, Jay and his brother, Neil, were recognized by Lehigh University for their longstanding generosity and support towards the Men's Lacrosse Team, as evidenced by the naming of the Lehigh Men's Lacrosse Suite in their honor.
