About John
John Delehanty is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
He is a member of the firm's Portfolio Manager Program, a select group of advisors who undergo a comprehensive screening process to manage discretionary portfolios. As such, John is subject to ongoing quantitative and qualitative reviews to assess his investment strategy.
John's investment process incorporates over 30 years of industry experience and reflects his extensive knowledge of equities, fixed income, and alternative assets. He tailors investment strategies to help meet the complicated needs and risk profiles of ultra-high-net-worth clients, delivering a holistic approach to investment management combined with sophisticated strategies for managing concentrated positions.
Always interested in the financial markets, John hand-delivered his resume to companies over the course of a weekend to secure his first job apprenticing with an investment advisor. He subsequently built his investment management business by forging long-term client relationships and partnerships.
He begins the process by ascertaining his clients' needs and goals, and then structures tailored portfolios, trust and estate plans, and risk management strategies designed to help achieve them. His overall goal as an advisor is to deliver moderate, risk-adjusted returns with low volatility. John complements his services with J.P. Morgan's industry-leading research, open architecture platform, alternative assets portfolio managers, and an array of credit and mortgage facilities.
Continuing his career as a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers from 1998-2005, John then became a Director at Credit Suisse in 2005, and transitioned to J.P. Morgan in his current capacity in 2014.
John graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.A. in Economics. He holds the FINRA General Securities Series 7 license, the Series 63 Blue Sky Rules license, and the Series 65 Investment Advisor Representatives license. John lives in Essex Fells, New Jersey, with his wife and five children. In addition to spending time with them, John coaches his children's lacrosse teams. He also plays golf and paddle tennis at the Essex Fells Country Club, and is a volunteer with the Essex Fells Fire Department.
