About John
John Tonzola is a Managing Director, Wealth Partner and Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
John draws upon over 25 years of significant product and markets knowledge to provide for ultra-high-net-worth clients. He has served as a trusted Advisor across generations of families, helping them navigate their sophisticated financial scenarios through focused investment management, trust and estate planning, gift and philanthropy issues, and tax-aware strategies.
John and his team offer clients a comprehensive, family-office-style experience. His strong background in structured financial products, alternative investments and investment strategies provides deep insight into how the many elements of a client's financial scenario relate. His breadth of experience allows him to be a total resource—providing tailored advice on a wide variety of issues while also collaborating with outside advisors such as CPAs, attorneys and valuation professionals to create and implement effective investment plans.
As a member of the firm's Portfolio Manager Program, John is one of a select group of Advisors who undergo a screening process to manage discretionary client portfolios and who are subject to ongoing quantitative and qualitative reviews to assess each Advisor's strategy. He also sits on the Wealth Partners' Advisory Council, working directly with the senior leadership of J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
John joined J.P. Morgan in 2016 after spending seven years at Deutsche Bank serving global wealth management clients. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at KBC Financial Products—a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Belgian global financial services firm KBC Bank, N.V.— where he focused on structuring and selling credit and equity derivatives, long-only fund management strategies and alternative investments.
A graduate of Yale University, John earned a B.A. in American Studies and is an alumnus of the Delbarton School in New Jersey. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst®(CAIA®) designation.
John, his wife, Christina, and their three sons live in Morris County, New Jersey. Active in their community, both John and Christina volunteer on the boards of several charitable organizations and local committees. When not in the office or with his family, John enjoys sailing, skiing, golf, and fly fishing.
