About John

John Borum is a Vice President and Wealth Planning Specialist at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

As a member of Schulman Wealth Management Group, John takes a comprehensive, personalized planning approach to advise individuals, families and business owners on the many elements of their wealth. He helps them identify their important objectives across all phases of their lives, from planning for their children’s education to preparing for retirement.

Recognizing that each client scenario is different, John understands the importance of listening and uncovering their ambitions. He enters client conversations with an open mind, leaving assumptions at the door and working to learn the story of their success and how they feel about their financial future. He enjoys helping clients identify gaps and solve challenges, ultimately crafting an individualized plan for positively impacting their families, their lifestyles and their communities.

John joined the team in 2015 at Wells Fargo Advisors, then moved with them to First Republic and transitioned to J.P. Morgan in 2023. Earlier, he was an Investment Associate at SunTrust Investment Services, after launching his career at Virginia Asset Management as a Financial Advisor in 2013.

John holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Economics from Old Dominion University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation, and has completed a M.S. in Advanced Financial Planning with a concentration in Estate Planning at Golden Gate University.

Originally from Virginia, John now lives with his wife, Meredith, and son, Theodore, in Hoboken along with their dog, Hudson. He values time spent with family and friends and loves to get on the golf course and play when he can.
