About Sarah
Sarah Daya is an Executive Director and the Central Lead for J.P. Morgan Wealth Management's Wealth Planning and Advice team.
Sarah and her team are responsible for wealth planning, thought leadership and strategic planning for individual clients. This group of former practicing lawyers and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals works directly with clients and their tax and legal advisors1 to provide experience in estate and tax planning strategies, retirement planning, restricted and control stock and stock option management, business succession planning, pre- and post-transactional planning, concentrated position management, and other personal planning strategies. Sarah and the team provide internal training to the J.P. Morgan Wealth Management sales force on these topics and also create educational content for distribution to the public.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, Sarah worked for the Internal Revenue Service on complex estate, gift and fiduciary tax matters. She began at the IRS as an Estate Tax Attorney, became a Lead Attorney/Litigation specialist and managed a group of attorneys in the Small Business/Self Employment Division – Estate and Gift Tax. Most recently she was an Attorney-Advisor with the Internal Revenue Service Office of the Chief Counsel – Income Tax and Accounting.
Sarah has deep experience in such diverse areas as captive insurance companies, installment sales, and business valuation, and, in her most recent role, drafted regulations addressing charitable workarounds for the $10,000 cap on state and local tax deductions and issued guidance on the deductibility of expenses paid using loans under the Paycheck Protection Program. In addition, Sarah was a frequent presenter for the Service on such diverse topics as responding to Freedom of Information Act requests, captive insurance companies, conservation easements, and estate and gift tax audit best practices.
Sarah earned a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University, a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and a Master of Laws (Taxation) from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the State Bar of Illinois.
