About Stephen
Stephen Stabile is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Before joining the firm, Stephen spent more than 20 years at Merrill Lynch and First Republic, addressing the sophisticated financial needs of wealthy individuals and families.
Early in his career, Stephen built an industry-wide reputation for being an outspoken proponent and practitioner of "goals-based wealth management"—well before it was widely accepted. His leadership in this area allowed the team to build a loyal following of clients and advisors—with whom he was happy to share his perspectives and experience. In fact, while at Merrill Lynch, Steve provided peer-to-peer mentoring on goals-based planning. He has been quoted frequently—in The Wall Street Journal, On Wall Street, Investment News, Investors' Business Daily and Yahoo Finance.
Stephen has sharpened the team's approach to help clients look beyond the wealth accumulation stage of their lives and focus more closely on their legacy planning, tax planning and overall estate planning objectives.
Stephen is able to appreciate meaningful ways to help clients grow, preserve and ultimately, transfer wealth. He also examines ways to structure their wealth, optimize their balance sheets, utilize debt intelligently, mitigate tax consequences, and provide pre- and post-liquidity preparation. For Stephen, helping clients manage risk across their investments and liabilities is an ongoing focus.
Stephen holds an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Business, a B.S. in Finance/MIS from SUNY Albany's Business School, and is a graduate of Xavier High School. Stephen holds the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation and the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation. He and his wife, Francesca, reside in Lower Manhattan and East Hampton with their two children. Stephen is a Trustee and Treasurer of Children's Museum of East End in Bridgehampton, New York.
