About John
John Tonzola is a Managing Director, Wealth Partner and Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan. With over 20 years of experience in finance, he draws upon his breadth of product and market knowledge to provide wealth advisory and investment strategies with a family office–style approach for ultra-high-net-worth clients.
John leverages the vast array of platforms, products and services at J.P. Morgan to provide his clients with appropriate planning, portfolio management, alternative investments, tax planning and philanthropy services, as well as credit and lending capabilities that help them pursue their individualized financial goals.
John's background in structuring financial products, alternative investments and investment strategies gives him the skills necessary to deliver comprehensive family office–style investment and financial planning for clients. He works alongside his clients' other trusted advisors—including CPAs, attorneys and valuation professionals—to counsel on appropriate legal entity structures and agreements, and to implement investment plans for his clients' total financial pictures. John is experienced in investment-related tax and estate tax planning, and is mindful of tax consequences when designing allocations for investments. He assists clients with trust and estate, gift and philanthropy matters, and focuses on long-term planning for his wealth management clients.
John and his experienced team strive to deliver a high level of customer service through a personalized, one-on-one approach. He has served as a trusted advisor across generations of families, and it is his goal to build longstanding relationships with each new client.
John joined J.P. Morgan in 2016. Prior to J.P. Morgan, he spent seven years at Deutsche Bank, serving wealth management clients across the globe. For the first 10 years of his career, he was at KBC Financial Products—a wholly owned subsidiary of the Belgian global financial services firm KBC Bank, N.V.—focused on the structure and sale of credit and equity derivatives, long-only fund management strategies and alternative investments.
John is a graduate of the Delbarton School in New Jersey as well as Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Alternative Investment AnalystSM (CAIASM) designation.
John, his wife, Christina, and their three sons live in Morris County, New Jersey. Active in their community, both he and Christina volunteer on several charitable organization boards and committees locally. When not in the office or with his family, he enjoys sailing, skiing and golf, and is an active fly fisherman.
