About Devon
Devon Porpora is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of the Alta Group, Devon works closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions, helping them enact a purposeful approach to the growth and management of their wealth. Devon brings a seasoned perspective to each client relationship, built upon a deep knowledge gained through over 25 years of direct experience through several market cycles.
Devon's team is distinctive in its breadth and scale which allows many wealth management functions to be performed in-house, including portfolio management, financial planning and wealth transfer. Alta's individualized approach employs a disciplined methodology that integrates both technical and fundamental analysis. Devon and the Alta team enjoy advising clients from a variety of backgrounds and professions, and are also adept in managing corporate retirement plans.
Devon joined J.P. Morgan Wealth Management in 2023 and he and his team have earned national recognition for their work. Previously, he was a Senior Managing Director and Wealth Manager at First Republic Investment Management, which he joined in 1999 as one of the founding members on the West Coast. His career also includes tenures as a clerk on the New York Stock Exchange and an investment banker in Hong Kong, where he was a recurring guest on CNBC Europe and CNN Asia. A graduate of Yale University, Devon earned his B.A. in Economics and was a member of the Varsity Rowing team. He has also studied at Beijing University in China.
Very active in his community, Devon was a co-founder of HEAL, a nonprofit that assisted financially strained wounded soldiers returning from overseas conflicts. HEAL ultimately helped more than 500 wounded and decorated veterans and their families avoid foreclosure, eviction and asset seizure. He also served as Treasurer of the nonprofit YTEC, which partnered with the San Francisco Unified School District to help at-risk youth receive a quality education and avoid juvenile detention.
Devon lives in San Francisco with his wife and their two children. In his free time, he enjoys rowing and sailing on the Bay.
