About Peter
Peter Welch is a Vice President and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of the Alta Group, Peter works closely with clients who are looking for greater direction in the management of their wealth, helping them enact a more cohesive approach to the opportunities and challenges they encounter. With more than a decade of wealth management experience, he offers the acumen and insight to help clients weigh their decisions, evaluate their priorities and enact steady progress toward their objectives. Peter works in concert with his team to provide an "artisanal" approach to each client's finances—one characterized by intensive customization and a deeply ingrained service ethic.
Intellectually curious, Peter is skilled in getting to the heart of what clients want to accomplish, while designing the most effective route to those ambitions. He notes that the breadth of his team allows them to provide a suite of services in-house, including customized investment management, financial planning, wealth transfer, and pre- and post-retirement strategies. Peter explains that the team's investment process includes both technical and fundamental analysis—a differentiating factor that is instrumental to their approach. Deeply committed to client well-being, Peter points to the satisfaction he derives from his work: he loves helping people. By listening attentively to client needs, he is gratified to support families over the lifecycle of their finances—growing, preserving and transferring their wealth.
Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2024, Peter was a Vice President and Wealth Manager at First Republic Private Wealth Management, which he joined in 2017. His career also includes three years with Fisher Investments. Peter earned his B.B.A. in Marketing cum laude from the University of San Francisco and currently serves in an Advisory Board capacity to his alma mater.
A fifth-generation Californian, Peter is originally from the Bay Area. He spent part of his youth in Texas before returning to his roots. He and his wife, Aliza, met during the pandemic. They enjoy doting on their mini Goldendoodle, Nova. Peter also loves to cook and is willing to try his hand at complex recipes—at least once.
