About Tom
Tom Egan is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of the Alta Group, Tom builds enduring relationships with clients and their families, providing them with integrated investment and wealth management advice tailored to their priorities. He draws on more than 25 years of experience in the capital markets, grounded in an ability to listen attentively to clients and delineate a more direct pathway to the lives and legacies they envision.
Clients appreciate Tom's ability to relate to their needs and speak clearly about their finances, helping them grow in their understanding as stewards of their own wealth. Customization, Tom notes, is a critical underpinning of his work. He devotes significant time to his relationships, aligning multiple facets of client wealth, from investing and financial planning to wealth transfer and retirement strategies. Tom also welcomes the opportunity to serve as a sounding board, helping clients evaluate the opportunities at their disposal.
Tom joined J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2023 and has earned national recognition for his work. Earlier, he was a Managing Director and Wealth Manager at First Republic Investment Management, which he joined in 2004. He has worked in investing and wealth management since 1997, when he became a Portfolio Manager at Bay Isle Financial Corporation. Tom had been a client of Bay Isle for three years prior to making a career change and joining the firm.
Tom spent the first 25 years of his professional life in the retail industry, holding multiple positions in merchandising and product development. He worked for six different public companies during his retail career, including Federated Department Stores, Associated Dry Goods, Carter Hawley Hale, Williams-Sonoma, Abercrombie & Fitch and Phillips- Van Heusen, where he was Senior Vice President of Merchandising. Tom earned his B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Miami University of Ohio and his M.B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Originally from Ohio, Tom fell in love with the Bay Area soon after graduating from college. He and his wife, Donna, love spending time outdoors, hiking and cycling. A fitness enthusiast, Tom was formerly an endurance runner and has completed the Boston Marathon, among other races. He and Donna enjoy traveling, as well as spending time at home with their two cats, Remy and Layla.
