About Edward 'Ted'
Ted Rice is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Ted imparts sophisticated investment and wealth planning services to a select group of clients across Silicon Valley, including high- and ultra-high-net-worth families, senior executives and entrepreneurs, many of whom are shareholders or optionees in technology companies. He views the team's charter as marshaling, organizing and investing clients' resources in a way that targets their most important goals. He guides clients in transitioning concentrated stock positions and real estate holdings into more diversified portfolios that can help fund their lifestyles.
Known for his honesty, competence and intelligence, Ted has dedicated his career to enhancing clients' long-term trajectories and prioritizing their objectives and needs. He feels it's an exciting time in the economic environment and is adept at carefully explaining complex topics in understandable terms. Ted has built a reputation for creating strategies that are simple, straightforward, transparent and tax-efficient. He constructs portfolios consisting of equities and fixed income in top-quality companies rather than more esoteric investments.
Ted's four-decade career includes stints at UBS and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he served as a Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor and was a founding member of The ARA Group. He and the team moved to First Republic Private Wealth Management before transitioning in his present role to J.P. Morgan in 2023.
A graduate of Stanford University, where he earned an A.B., Ted also holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation. He enjoys mentoring younger professionals in the industry on the power of the markets to create a lasting legacy.
Ted is a member of Commonwealth Club World Affairs of California and served as co-chair of its annual fundraising gala. He is an avid skier, hiker and golfer, and he recently completed a family Backroads hiking trip in the Italian Dolomites. He plays the drums in a local rock & roll band.
