Vanessa Avendano is an Executive Director and Client Specialist covering New York at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Vanessa works in partnership with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management Advisors to provide comprehensive investment advisory and wealth management services to successful individuals and families. Vanessa offers guidance based on a deep understanding of immediate and long-term needs, helping craft strategies designed to address clients' aspirations and specific challenges. In her role, she engages with each client in a consultative manner, uncovering opportunities to simplify clients' financial lives by strategically aligning J.P. Morgan's vast resources and capabilities.
Bringing nearly 15 years of financial services experience to her role, Vanessa joined J.P. Morgan in 2025. She spent the previous four years as a Private Wealth Advisor at Goldman Sachs, where she provided investment advice and comprehensive wealth management services to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. Prior to that role, she was a Senior Enterprise Relationship Manager at Bloomberg LP, where she was responsible for cultivating and developing client relationships with financial institutions and corporations throughout North America. Earlier in her career, Vanessa worked as an Equity Research Analyst at a local brokerage firm in her hometown of Mexico City, covering metal and mining companies operating in Latin America.
Vanessa holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.S in Accounting and Finance from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM). She currently serves as the President of the ITAM Alumni Chapter in NY. Vanessa is also a member of the US Mexico Chamber of Commerce Northeast Regional Chapter (USMCOCNE), and of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society.
Originally from Mexico City, Vanessa lived in Canada and Brazil before making her home in New York City more than a decade ago. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys reading, exploring New York's restaurant scene with her husband, and traveling the globe with their family. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is conversational in Portuguese.
