About Michael
Michael Lopes is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Michael leverages more than two decades of financial services experience to offer investment and wealth planning guidance to individuals and families, with an emphasis on owners of closely held businesses. He counsels clients on a diverse range of matters, including tax and estate planning, multi-generational asset allocation, individual and corporate retirement planning, and the sale of closely held businesses, partnering with their team of advisors to help drive success.
As a trusted advisor, Michael's passion lies in helping entrepreneurs grow and safeguard the wealth they've taken significant risks—and made great sacrifices—to build. He appreciates the complexity of his clients' needs and adopts a multi-faceted approach as a coach, connector and financial advisor.
Michael marries his enthusiasm for supporting business owners throughout their companies' life cycles with the firm's top-tier planning and investment capabilities. He views his role as a community stakeholder and taps into his curated network of professional advisors to ensure his clients are surrounded by the right talent as they navigate the business landscape. Michael understands the distinctive challenges business owners face balancing their personal and professional goals. He seeks to build camaraderie and fellowship among clients and friends of the firm through peer networking groups, forums and differentiated events. He relishes the opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives.
Michael holds an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and a B.A. in Political Science from Lynchburg College.

Michael and his wife, Rachel, are devoted parents to three young children and share a passion for education and athletics. A lifelong learner, he is working toward conversational proficiency in Spanish. A guitar player and enthusiast, Michael shares his love of playing music with his son and oldest daughter, who are guitar and drum students, respectively. A lover of the outdoors, he often melds personal and professional passions by organizing kiteboarding trips for clients and friends, creating opportunities for connection and shared enjoyment around a great outdoor adventure experience.
