Welcome
If you are a small or middle-market business owner, you have many competing demands for your time. The challenge of running your business while taking care of the people you value can be a difficult balancing act.
At The Munman Group, we understand these competing priorities. We've advised business owners like you for years—helping you prepare for a liquidity event while staying focused on the long-term objectives you've set for your business and your family. Founded in 2007 by Managing Director and Wealth Partner Ronald Munman, our team includes Partner and Wealth Advisor Drew Saberhagen, supported by a seasoned group of dedicated professionals who bring deep experience and meticulous attention to detail. Together, we deliver a discreet, highly coordinated, high-touch experience—helping you, your business, and your family preserve and advance your long-term legacy.
We believe strongly in the distinctive nature of our approach. Speak with us for a few minutes, and you'll notice something different. We exclusively focus on small and middle-market business owners like you. As a result, we've gained a deep understanding of what you need to thrive.
When you engage our help, you gain a high-performing team. We don't make this assertion lightly. We invite you to review the ways we look to create a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you and your loved ones, supporting you throughout the lifecycle of your business.
"What Keeps You Up at Night" questionnaire
As part of our client service process, we begin with a questionnaire for business owners to help them evaluate their readiness across 11 critical areas of their life and work. Deemed the "What Keeps You Up at Night" questionnaire, this survey provides you with insights on progress you have made and areas yet to be addressed.
Designed to span 12 minutes, our survey is mindful of your time. It encompasses carefully curated questions geared toward uncovering your strengths, blind spots and concerns you have not yet examined:
• Business structure, ownership and transition posture
• Cash flow, key-person risk and competitive pressures
• Exit readiness, valuation drivers and diligence preparation
• Family governance, legacy and wealth-transfer planning
• Personal financial gap and post-transition readiness
• Risk, continuity, estate planning and insurance coverage
Following the survey, we hold a discovery meeting to review your results and build your personalized profile. The continuation of our work includes your roadmap: custom models and recommendations for your family and business, specifically designed around you.
Our "Integrated Wealth Formula"
We offer a consistent framework which defines our approach to wealth management. Unlike traditional investment-centric models, our formula encompasses crucial elements for delivering advice, transparency and personalized attention for your business and family.
We align three spheres within our Integrated Wealth Formula, crafting end-to-end guidance, from early-stage planning and implementation through post-transaction investing, salary "replacement" and lifestyle needs:
• Coordinated financial management
• Relationship management
• Advanced planning
We take the time to craft a thorough understanding of your situation, integrating the advice of specialists at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, while also working closely with your external tax and legal advisors. Together, we bring the "right resources in the room," advancing your intentions, while smoothing a pathway to a fulfilling sale or transfer of your business.
Our white papers
Our founder, Ronald Munman, has advised business owners since 2002. Ron has authored a number of white papers, in collaboration with Drew Saberhagen. Our white papers tackle meaningful crossroads in business owners' lives. Informed by our "What Keeps You Up at Night" surveys, these white papers offer a timely grasp of the opportunities and challenges that business owners face, contributing to the greater business community:
• Receiving an unsolicited offer. We note the advantages and disadvantages of unsolicited offers, as well as recommendations for next steps.
• Moving from success to significance. We discuss the ways business owners can prepare themselves for the apex transaction of their careers, including owner readiness, effective communication, resource utilization and exit planning.
• The third act of a business owner. We explore the emotional and practical aspects of life post-sale, offering actionable insights to help navigate the business owner's third act.
If you are a small or middle-market business owner, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
