About James
Jim Fletcher is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of FGF Partners, Jim guides an accomplished clientele through critical transitions in their lives and legacies, helping them deploy and invest their wealth with forethought and care. Drawing on more than four decades of experience, he offers the acumen and insight that stem from direct experience working with a wide range of individual and non-profit clients. Jim notes that as a fiduciary, he is obligated to put clients' interests ahead of his own—a dynamic that yields long-lasting relationships grounded in mutual trust and understanding.
Jim oversees the management of the team, refining its processes and systems to enhance the client experience. Jim advises business owners, executives and multigenerational families at varied points in the lifecycle of their wealth, designing customized investment and wealth-transfer initiatives. A strong advocate of planning, Jim shares that he and his colleagues "truly believe in estate and financial planning," noting that "you need a plan to get where you envision going." He maintains close communication with his clients, supporting their evolution as stewards of their wealth and emphasizing the value of patience and a long-term perspective.
Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2023, Jim spent more than 14 years with First Republic Investment Management, where he was a Managing Director and Wealth Manager. Earlier, Jim served as First Vice President and Senior Director of Portfolio Management at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, where he worked for more than 10 years. His experience also includes tenure as President of Fletcher Capital Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisor. In this capacity, Jim managed assets for endowments, charities, nonprofit organizations and high-net-worth individuals.
A graduate of Stanford University, Jim earned his B.A. in Economics. He is a CFA® charter holder awarded through the CFA® Institute and is a member of the Los Angeles and Orange County CFA Societies.
Active in his community, Jim serves as Trustee of the Laguna Beach Community Foundation and served as Chair of its Investment Committee. He is a former Chair of the Laguna Beach Educational Foundation Investment Committee.
A resident of Laguna Beach, Jim is ecstatic catching up with his globe-trotting daughter and son's adventuresome family. In his free time, he takes "the road less traveled" in his Jeep, exploring deserted byways throughout California.
