About James

Jim Atwood is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

Jim brings more than three decades of experience in designing and implementing customized investment and wealth strategies for a nationwide client group of ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. He draws on the combined resources of his integrated team and J.P. Morgan's vast array of thought leadership and global market perspectives to help his clients manage, deploy and transfer their wealth in a manner consistent with their immediate cash flow needs and long-term goals.

Jim is a member of the J.P. Morgan Wealth Management Portfolio Manager Program, one of a select group of advisors who undergo a screening process to manage discretionary portfolios, and are subject to ongoing quantitative and qualitative reviews to assess each advisor's investment strategy. His refined skills in asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction have fostered engaging relationships, and many clients have worked with him for generations of their families. He has garnered a reputation for helping address the challenges that significant wealth presents and assisting clients in pursuing their aspirations.

In a financial services career that began at Merrill Lynch, where he rose to Senior Managing Director, Jim most recently spent five years at First Republic as a Senior Wealth Manager. He moved with his team to J.P. Morgan in 2023 in recognition of the benefits that could accrue to his clients through the firm's global capabilities.

A graduate of the University of Vermont, Jim earned a B.A. in Political Science.

Jim and his wife, Kristen, live in Palm Beach, FL, with their five children. He serves on the boards of Boston City Year and The New England Aquarium and previously was a board member of the Wang Center for the Performing Arts.
