About Aubrey
A.J. Tarpley is a Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
A.J. works closely with entrepreneurs, executives, and athletes, helping them manage their financial affairs with greater purpose and direction. Within The Rutledge Custodio Team, he focuses on building strong relationships with clients, allowing people to dedicate their energy to their professional and personal priorities. A.J.'s responsibilities also include financial planning and portfolio design.
A.J. was drawn to wealth management because he enjoyed helping team members, friends and colleagues evaluate their financial options. That same educational mindset infuses his current role. He takes great satisfaction in helping people regain control over their wealth, connecting clients to a refined level of advice and guidance. A.J. also works closely with the next generation of client families, helping them start early on the path to financial stewardship and long-term success.
Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2023, A.J. was a Wealth Manager at both First Republic's and Merrill's Private Wealth Management divisions. A.J. began his tenure in financial services in 2016 with Bank of America's Global Credit and Special Situations desk, where he focused on distressed debt and institutional clients. He also played professional football for 3 years in the NFL, AAF, and XFL.
A.J. earned his B.A. in Science, Technology and Society from Stanford University, where he was a 4-year starter at middle linebacker and captain of the football team.
Eager to give back to his community, A.J. volunteers as a financial literacy instructor for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula. He also serves on the California Advisory Board for the Concussion Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit that supports veterans, athletes and all affected by concussions and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
A resident of Redwood City, A.J. enjoys playing golf and basketball, hiking and reading non-fiction in his free time.
