About Theresa
Theresa Rutledge is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
As a co-founder of The Rutledge Custodio Team, Theresa provides enduring leadership and a refined caliber of strategy to company founders, senior executives, professional investors and other wealth creators. With more than two decades of experience advising an accomplished clientele, she offers the stability and perspective to support individuals and families in resolving the complexities that substantial wealth can pose. Theresa and her team also provide clients with the time and attention to pursue a more purposeful trajectory for their wealth, connecting their current circumstances to the arc of their ambitions.
Theresa notes that the team's approach is grounded in thorough financial planning, undertaken with the rigor and clarity that can empower sound decision-making. She and her colleagues look to align and unify multiple facets of client wealth. They have particular depth in pre-liquidity-event planning, tailored portfolio design, trust and estate services, and wealth transfer. By serving a limited number of households by design, Theresa and her team members are able to offer the immediacy and attentiveness that demonstrate how much they value each relationship.
Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with her team in 2023, Theresa was a Managing Director and Wealth Manager with First Republic Private Wealth Management. Earlier in her career, she served as a Senior Vice President and Private Wealth Advisor with Merrill Private Wealth Management, where she spent more than 15 years. She has worked in investing and wealth management since 2001.
Theresa earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification awarded by the CFP® Board of Standards, Inc.
Active in her community, Theresa volunteers as a financial literacy instructor for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula and serves on the organization's Endowment Investment Committee.
A native of the Bay Area, Theresa enjoys living and working close to her roots. When weather permits, she likes to bike to work. She and her husband, Steve, also stay active on the weekends, taking long walks and bike rides. They have two adult sons who make them very proud. In her free hours, Theresa loves entertaining and planning her next gathering for family and friends.
