About Peter

Peter Morton is a Senior Client Associate at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

Peter serves as the primary Financial Planner for the Alta Group, supporting high-net-worth individuals and families in gaining greater clarity over multiple aspects of their wealth. He spends significant time with clients, discussing their goals and intentions, gathering information, reconciling data across multiple inputs and synthesizing a cohesive financial picture. These "workshopping sessions," Peter explains, are collaborative, allowing him to gain an accurate understanding of both quantitative and qualitative factors, such as a client's investment preferences, tax situation, assets and liabilities, as well as their wealth transfer intentions, cash-flow needs and family dynamics.

Easy to relate to, Peter is gratified to help people reduce financial stress and gain peace of mind about the direction of their wealth. Clients seek Peter's advice at varying times. Some are anticipating retirement and wondering if they have "enough" to navigate that transition. Others want to align their investment portfolio with their goals, refining their approach relative to their risk tolerance and time horizons. And still others have different objectives—selling a business, drawing down assets in retirement in a taxefficient manner, or saving for a child's or grandchild's education. Whatever the reason, Peter approaches these questions with a readiness to help, pointing out possible efficiencies so that clients can grow in confidence as stewards of their own wealth.

Prior to moving to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management with his team in 2023, Peter spent six years with First Republic Private Wealth Management. He earned his B.S. in Finance from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Committed to bringing clients forward-thinking advice, Peter holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.

Originally from Washington State, Peter currently lives in Pleasant Hill. He grew up playing pickleball and continues to enjoy the sport, as well as playing golf, paragliding and spending time outdoors.

CFP Board owns the marks CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® in the U.S.
